THE CENTRE FOR SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES – CSH

As a research centre, the overall objective of the CSH is to examine the various transition processes that affect India and the South Asian region along with the impacts of globalisation.

The research fields cover the entire spectrum of Social Sciences and Humanities (economics, political science, international relations, international law, geography, demography, sociology, anthropology and other areas).

The main mission of the CSH is to contribute to the development and circulation of social science knowledge, based on a multi-disciplinary approach, on India and South Asian countries and societies.

 IFP_logo-1024x842THE FRENCH INSTITUTE OF PONDICHERRY – IFP

With around 80 staff members, the IFP is the biggest and oldest UMIFRE research centre abroad.

Inaugurated in 1955, it has long standing and strong collaborations with  Indian  institutions   to   carry   out   research   of   excellence  in  Sanskrit  and  Tamil  studies,  social   sciences,   ecology, and remote sensing/information technology.

The IFP is a project leader and partner, acknowledged by internatio- nal funding agencies. Its research is supported by its unique collec- tions (UNESCO-labelled palm leaf manuscripts, photos, herbarium, pollens, maps,..), its library (more than 70,000 documents) and its own publications.
